Ultrabooks are the craze these days.  People simply want thin and light.  These laptops can be taken anywhere, which allows users to remain connected and productive with the things that are important to them.

Toshiba has thrown an interesting twist into the whole ultrabook product category by producing widescreen ultrabooks.  It’s just a little something more and premium for those looking for more desktop space, whether to use for more windows or for a better video enjoying experience.

Typical aspect ratios measure 16 x 9, but the Toshiba Satellite U845W laptops have a 21 x 9 aspect ratio.

The benefits to this configuration is that users have more space to work with.  Easily place multiple browser windows next to each other and eliminate the need to switch back and forth between screens.  Place a file next to a video screen, side by side to improve multitasking.  The one caveat that one might want to keep in mind is that there isn’t that many video content at the moment optimized for this aspect ratio.  But just give it some time, because as technology gets better, it’ll become more prevalent.

So, in an effort to stand out from the pack, Toshiba has introduced an eye-catching, ultra-widescreen Ultrabook. Its display is much wider than it is tall, with a 21 by 9 aspect ratio — wider than even the rectangular, 16 by 9 aspect ratio that has become standard for most HD TVs. Called the Toshiba Satellite U845W, this laptop, with its extra screen real estate, is aimed at heavy media consumers and multitaskers.
