In an ABC News interview by Joanna Stern with Dilip Bhatia, a VP of the ThinkPad business unit, the two talk about two upcoming Lenovo products which have been generating a lot of buzz in the tech world.  These products are the ThinkPad X1 Carbon and the ThinkPad 2 Tablet.  The debut of these two products coincide with the 20th anniversary of the ThinkPad brand, and will be released to the public this Fall.  Consumers can purchase the ThinkPad X1 Carbon (premium ultrabook) right now and will have to wait until the end of October for the ThinkPad Tablet 2.

Some highlights which were covered in the video interview include a discussion of the design of the ThinkPad X1 and a conversation about how The ThinkPad Tablet 2 will run on Microsoft’s Windows 8.

While ultrabooks and tablets have been the talk and buzz with many mainstream consumers, not many options are available for business professionals.  Lenovo will be breaking into this consumer segment with the ThinkPad brand in these two products.

At one point in the dialogue, Dilip comments on concerns Microsoft’s own Surface Tablet and how it will compete with the ThinkPad Tablet 2:

“Microsoft is a strategic partner for us. The Surface has brought more excitement to the marketplace. The ThinkPad tablet is focused after the business individual; the Surface is more geared towards the consumer offering,”
