ThinkPad Edge E531 Preview

Dana Wollman from Engadget had a chance to tinker around with a pre-production Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 531 Laptop. This system will be coming out soon, within the next several months. Two notable new features are the trackpad and the power cord. The trackpad now is one button. The typical left and right buttons have been integrated. Moving forward, Lenovo will also be using their OneLink technology. Keep an eye out on these. For the full video preview of the ThinkPad E531, click on the link below

ThinkPad E431 & E531 With OneLink Dock

SlashGear has an interesting article on Lenovo’s OneKey technology. The company has been making a strong push, getting the word out when it can about this new feature. At CES 2013, Lenovo introduced the ThinkPad E431 and E531, two next generation ThinkPad Edge Series notebooks. Lenovo demonstrated the OneLink dock with these two machines.

OneLink is essentially Lenovo’s way to cut down on wires and cords in the immediate vicinity of your ThinkPad Edge. By using the OneLink cable to connect your ThinkPad Edge to the OneLink dock, you’ll not only begin charging your computer, but you’ll also gain access to the USB and HDMI ports on the front and backside of the dock. Here you can connect all of your peripherals while only dealing with one cable in your immediate work area.

Details On ThinkPad T431s & X230s Leaked

Besides what has been seen at CES 2013, there hasn’t been much discussed on what other product line upgrades there will be. Today some details were revealed on Lenovo’s Chinese website shedding some hints on what consumers can expect on some of the next generation of Lenovo’s ThinkPad T Series and X Series. Most of the changes seem to be design related. Read up on what to look for in the article below.

Lenovo might not be ready to officially reveal the full 2013 ThinkPad range, but it’s succeeded in sparking some early interest in the unannounced T431s and X230s by putting their manuals on its Chinese webpage. The documents don’t tell us anything about what hardware will be found inside either machine, but as Laptop Reviews note, included diagrams do hint at what they might look like. Akin to the unreleased ThinkPad Helix and Edge notebooks, the traditional dedicated TrackPoint buttons below the keyboard have been done away with, in favor of integrating them into a larger trackpad. Something we also saw on the Helix that’ll be carried through to the T431s and X230s is a slight alteration to the function keys — they’ll be the secondary use of hotkeys for brightness, volume and such, rather than the other way around.

Differences Between Yoga 11 & Yoga 11s

Have you heard?  Lenovo’s coming out with another IdeaPad Yoga ultrabook.  This time it will be the Yoga 11s, a slight variation of the Yoga 11 which is currently available right now.  The Yoga 11s should be available in the next month or two.  If you’re wondering what the differences between these two different but similar systems, check out the article below.  The reading briefly highlights what consumers can expect.  A short clip is found below.

The main difference between the current 11-inch Yoga and the new version is in the processor. The existing Yoga 11 uses an Nvidia Tegra 3 processor and runs Windows RT. This special version of Microsoft’s operating system is built for ARM processors (like the Tegra 3) that are commonly found in mobile devices. On the other hand, the new Yoga 11S uses an Intel Core-i processor that’s standard among Ultrabooks, and similar to the ones found in Lenovo’s 13-inch Yoga.

IdeaPad Yogas to Run on Android

The popularity of the IdeaPad Yoga ultrabook line has been well documented. Yoga machines are simply one of the easiest Windows 8 convertibles out there on the market right now. With the Yoga Series, you also have a selection of operating systems to go with. From full Windows 8 to Windows RT, you can go with either. This upcoming summer consumers might see an additional selection in Android. That should prove to be an interesting design.

Lenovo plans to take its IdeaPad Yoga convertible, and make an Android device out of it, sources indicate. It has apparently been planning to do this, with an Intel processor inside, as soon as last quarter, but the launch of a newer iPad by Apple, and the onslaught of Windows 8/RT slates and cheap Android tablets, postponed the decision.

IdeaPad Yoga 11s to Get Full Windows 8 OS

Those of you who weren’t impressed with the IdeaPad Yoga 11 because of the Windows RT operating system will be glad to know that Lenovo will be releasing soon another version of the system called the IdeaPad Yoga 11s. This ultrabook will feature a full Windows 8 operating system. So instead of a stripped down Windows RT which is not able to run legacy applications, you’ll be getting full and current Windows 8 that can.
